Walk, Don’t Run

The Mets draw nine walks from the Marlins pitchers, collect ten hits, but only generate four runs on offense as they fall 11-4. The difference between the two teams was that eight of the Marlins 11 hits came with runners in scoring position, while only three of the Mets 10 hits did. Florida also turned three double plays to remove some base runners. The win moves the Marlins to six games out in the wild card standings. The Mets fall 7 1/2 games back.

Update: Jose Reyes left the game with an injury as well.
