Dodgers Investigation

The California attorney general is now looking into the Dodgers charity:

The attorney general’s office is investigating the compensation the Dodgers Dream Foundation made to club executive Howard Sunkin, who is an advisor / lobbyist / assistant for Frank McCourt.

The investigation centers on the $400,000 in salary Sunkin received from the charitable foundation in 2007, which was a quarter of the charity’s entire budget.

I’ve written that a few times now and still have trouble believing it. Not that anyone is denying it.

The attorney general’s office has sent a letter to the Dodgers requesting several documents and answers to questions as to how the charity paid Sunkin.

The divorce opened up the McCourts to all kinds of discovery that reflect poorly on both. Maybe if they had thought this through before hand they could have come up with a settlement that kept this out of the public eye. It’s quite possible that in each’s desire to own the Dodgers, neither of them gets the team.

What’s the difference between Tiger Wood’s divorce and the McCourts? Tiger went through a collaborative divorce process. It’s private, non-court and non-adversarial [when emotions run high they are managed by collaborating mental health specialists].
What’s the similarity between Tiger Wood’s divorce and the McCourts? Both had “Franchises”, that were already taking a hit by virtue of the divorce, to lose.
Makes Tiger and Elin look pretty smart. And their kids [and their kids] win.
The McCourts and the franchise, City of LA, and Dodger fans everywhere, lose.
