Top Homers

Prince Fielder hit his 30th home run of the season and drove in three runs as the Brewers downed the Phillies 6-2. Price gained on his counter part at first base, Ryan Howard, in the race for most home runs since the start of the 2007 season. With his fourth straight season of 30 home runs or more, Fielder now trails Howard by six, 166 to 160. The have a good lead on Adam Dunn at 152.

The list shows players with 100 home runs in that time frame. As of Sunday morning, 22 players reached that mark. The name that surprised me the most on the list was Nick Swisher, number 22 with exactly 100 HR.

Nick Swisher has been one of the best pick ups for the Yankees over the last few years. I lot him in after Sabathia and Teixera They basically traded him for a bag of rocks. He had 29 HRs last year. He is a switch hitter, plays adequate defense, can fill in at 1B, brings a lot of energy to the club and you can bat him anywhere in the line up. Thank you Ozzie Guillen.

dch, you are right. Nick Swisher has been everything and more than the Yankees could have hoped for. I like watching him-he’s got this all serious demeanor while trying to suppress his joy that he’s playing baseball. It’s a strange dichotomy. I don’t even like the Yankees, but I like watching Swisher.
