Bartlett Pair

The Padres and Jason Bartlett agreed to a two-year contract:

Former Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Jason Bartlett got the multi-year deal he was looking for from the Padres, avoiding arbitration with his new team by agreeing to a two-year deal for a reported $11-million, with a 2013 vesting option that could add another $4-million to the deal.

Bartlett is coming off a poor season which did not come close to five or six million dollars in value. His previous four seasons, however, he was well ahead of that total. Right now, 2010 looks like a fluke poor season, and this contract indicates the Padres have good reason to agree with that assessment.
