More Rest for Reyes

The Mets will activate Jose Reyes for the second game to today’s double header:

Terry Collins has said that he plans to give Reyes frequent days off down the stretch to keep him at full strength, hinting that he’d likely sit out at least one day per week.

I assume the activation probably has more to do with having the right pitching staff for games one and two. I could imagine that if the bullpen were stretched in game one, they might keep Jose down to make sure they had enough pitching for the second game.

Jose’s major league lead in triples is down to two (16 for Jose, 14 for Shane Victorino). Given the amount of time Jose missed this season, getting to twenty triples would be a remarkable feat.
