Money for Nothing

The White Sox benched Adam Dunn.

Dunn has sat for two straight games and there is likely a lot more bench in his immediate future. As Ballantini reported, Dunn pretty much knows the score. He’s hitting .163/.290/.289 in perhaps the worst fall-off-a-cliff season for an elite hitter in living memory. He’s never complained about much in his career, so he’s not likely to start now.

Dunn is a career .244 hitter. The probability of .244 hitter collecting no more than 60 hits is .0001. That seems like this is a real change in talent level, rather than just a bad season. If that’s true, the White Sox are on the hook for a lot of money.
