The Amazing Roy Halladay

Roy Halladay came into Wednesday afternoon’s game against the Astros with 29 starts and 210 2/3 innings under his belt. He had pitched at least 220 innings in each of the previous five seasons, so after another long, hard working year, one might imagine Halladay would be a bit tired. Instead, he throws a complete game, shutting out the Astros 1-0. He dominated, allowing just six hits and one walk while striking out seven. On a day when a win meant clinching a playoff spot, Roy picked up the team and carried them into the post season.

It was his eighth complete game of the season. One more and he will have completed nine games four years in a row. He may very well have earned the Cy Young award today.
