In light of the Oakland Athletics hiring Chili Davis as their hitting coach, Giants Win calls for San Francisco to fire Hensley Meulens.

Meulens was pretty terrible as an MLB player, posting a negative -1.8 WAR over 7 seasons. He got his job saved in 2010 when guys like Andres Torres and Aubrey Huff had career years along with the postseason magic of Cody Ross, Juan Uribe and Edgar Renteria. Last year showed he’s no damn good as a coach.

On the other hand, Bam-Bam didn’t have much to work with. If Buster Posey stays healthy, he and Pablo Sandoval could have made that offense look a lot better. Don’t fault Meulens that much for Brian Sabean procuring poor talent.
