The Phillies confirmed their backup second baseman, Michael Martinez, will miss six to eight weeks with a broken foot:

“We’re keeping our eyes open on middle infield depth,” the Phillies general manager said. “We could do it internally, but I think it behooves us to make sure we keep an eye out on what’s going on as far as guys who are available, guys who could help us.”

The Phillies do have pitching depth to trade. Or, they could be bold and trade Utley’s bat. The Rays are deep on the infield. What if they sent Ben Zobrist to the Phillies for Utley, played Sean Rodriguez at second, and made Chase the DH?
