Dickey Bends, but Doesn’t Break

R.A Dickey gave up nine hits and a walk in seven innings against the Phillies, but the Mets starter allowed just one run on a solo homer. Dickey got it done with seven strikeouts and holding the Phillies 0 for 5 with runners in scoring position (0 for 8) in the game. Meanwhile, the Mets received home runs from Jason Bay and Scott Hairston as they go on to a 5-2 victory. Cliff Lee did not walk a batter, but the two home runs were enough for the loss in an otherwise well pitched game.
