Jeter Stays Hot

Derek Jeter goes four for five against the Texas Rangers on Monday night to raise his batting average to .411. If he stays hot for the rest of the week, he could finish April with one of the highest single month batting averages of his career (minimum 65 AB). In July 2003 he hit .425, 37/87. September of 2000 saw him go 43/104, a .413 BA. He nearly matched that in July of 2006, 42/102, .412. He’s 31 for 73 this month. His best April came in 2006, 35/88, .398.

Jeter scored two runs and drove in one to help the Yankees to a 7-4 win over the Rangers. CC Sabathia walked one and struck out eight in eight innings, but allowed four runs. That seems to be how CC’s season is going this year.
