Jeff lasted just five innings, but allowed just one run on three hits and two walks. Opponents are batting just .234 against him on the season. The 1-2-3 hitters in the Cubs lineup combined to go 7 for 15, figuring in half the Cubs runs for the day.

The Cubs stand last in the NL Central, but with the Cardinals losing three in a row, Chicago is just six games out of first place. St. Louis was playing over it’s head a bit in terms of power, so don’t be surprised if they come back to the pack. This is still any team’s division.
