AL East Winners

The Red Sox lost a game in the standings to every AL East opponent on Sunday afternoon. The Mets got out to an early 3-0 lead over the Yankees. Russell Martin brought them back to 3-2 with a home run in the seventh, then hit the Yankees first walk-off home run since 2010 when he led off the ninth with the game winner to give the Yankees a 5-4 win. Andy Pettitte continues to show great control with two walks and eight strikeouts in six innings.

The Rays swept the Marlins, winning 4-2 Sunday afternoon. Matt Joyce and Elliot Johnson accounted for three of the Rays runs with homers. Joyce is slugging .542 on the season.

Adam Jones and Matt Wieters combined for the winning run in the tenth as the Orioles squeaked by the Phillies 5-4. Jones reached on an error and Matt doubled him home. The two combined for five hits, two runs and an RBI in the game.

The Blue Jays pounded the Braves 12-4, Toronto collecting 18 hits, 13 of them singles. Colby Rasmus only had one of those as he missed the cycle by a triple. The Jays bullpen pitched five shutout innings as Ricky Romero left the game after giving up four runs early, staking the Braves to a 4-0 lead after three innings.

The AL East race remains tight with just one game separating the top three teams, with Toronto four back and the Red Sox six down.
