The Crushing Continues

The American League continues to best the National League in interleague play. With the weekend over, the AL leads with 96 wins to 72 for the NL, a .571 winning percentage for the junior circuit. The AL owns the battle offensively, scoring 4.6 runs per game to 3.9 for the NL.

The Yankees lead the way with a 10-2 record, with Baltimore and Texas at 9-3. Cincinnati and San Diego top the NL at 6-3, while Washington and Arizona won the most NL games with 7-5 records.

At the low end, the Rockies won just one out of 12 of their interleague games, while the Cubs struggle at 3-9. Cleveland owns the worst record in the AL at 4-8.

The AL continues to score more runs when they use a pitcher batting than when they use the designated hitter. The AL outscores the NL 4.5 to 4.1 runs when playing in an AL city, but 4.8 to 3.7 runs when playing in an NL city. I suspect the Athletics explosion in Colorado contributed a great deal to this.
