Cardinals Dominate

The Cardinals win game two of the NLDS against Washington by a score of 12-4. The top of the Cardinals order starred in the game, as Jon Jay and Carlos Beltran each collected two hits and drove in three runs. Jay tripled and made an amazing catch in cetnerfield, while Beltran hit two home runs. Allen Craig missed the cycle by a triple, scoring twice.

The Nationals could not take advantage of early wildness by Jaime Garcia. They only scored one run off him, and he left for a pinch hitter after two innings. The rest of the St. Louis staff didn’t really shut down Washington, as they picked up eight hits and a walk over the last seven innings, but they couldn’t sustain any rallies. Everything seemed just a little off with the Nationals today, while everything seemed to fall in for the Cardinals.

Washington does leave with a split on the road, so they only need to win two of three at home to advance to the NLCS. The Nationals played two games better at home than on the road, 50-31. The Cardinals owned the same home record, but went 38-43 away from the latest incarnation of Busch Stadium.

Game three plays at 1 PM EDT Wednesday on the MLB Channel. Both bullpens can use the day off.
