Magadan Back

Dave Magadan did not stay unemployed long:

Former Boston hitting coach Dave Magadan has been hired to serve the same role with the Texas Rangers.

The 50-year-old Magadan spent the last six seasons with Boston. During that span, the Red Sox led the majors in doubles (2,089) and extra-base hits (3,385). They also ranked second in runs (5,011), hits (9,196) and third with a .273 batting average.

Part of that (the doubles, at least) has to do with Fenway Park. I always like Magadan as a hitter. He waited for his pitch and squared up the ball well. I’m glad to see he wound up with another good offense.

Correction: For some reason, I thought Dave was let go by the Red Sox. He left the Red Sox to move to the Rangers.
