R.A. Dickey wins the NL Cy Young Award, the first knuckleball pitcher to win the award. Congratulations to R.A. on a great season. Dickey has a great story behind this season, and it’s wonderful to see him win.
Update: Dickey was tearing up as he talked about all the support he’s received, especially from his wife. The voting is here. It wasn’t close at all as Dickey received 27 first place votes and five second place votes. For second place, Clayton Kershaw just managed to edge out Gio Gonzalez by three points. The rankings seem right to me.
Good to see the writers knuckled down, did their homework and made the right call.
If anyone had R. A. Dickey winning the Cy Young Award at the beginning of the season, I want to see the proof.
