It appears that Justin Upton used his no-trade clause to reject a deal that would have sent him to the Mariners. I can’t say I blame him. Seattle is not a great park for a hitter like Justin. It’s like pitchers moving to Coors, no one wants to see their stats go downhill due to a ballpark. I wonder how much that had to do with the decision.
The fences are being moved in so it’s hard to see that as the reason. Dumb management might be more likely. Or maybe it’s just the weather.
Maybe he doesn’t like plane rides. Seattle’s got some long-distance road trips.
He also listed Boston as a no trade destination.
Can’t be the park there.
