Dusty Dustup

Dusty Baker wanted Kirk Gibson to agree to use the designated hitter in the Reds at Diamondbacks today, and Kirk refused, wanting to get his former AL pitcher some at bats:

Testy exchange at home plate between #Dbacks Kirk Gibson and #Reds manager Dusty Baker. Gibson offered hand, Baker refused to shake it.

This is why I’d like to see the DH be the decision of the home manager. Davey Johnson would always go for the pitcher when Stephen Strasburg is pitching.

If we didn’t have this silly exemption from the rules for the NL we wouldn’t have this problem in the first place.

The dumb thing here is that they could have agreed to use the dh, and then Gibson could have had his pitchers hit anyway. Goodness, it’s just an exhibition game anyway.

Gibby has Parkinson’s I have heard, Dusty Baker is a bitter man who uses the race card every chance he gets. To not shake a man’s hand when he is being a gentleman with integrity and is simply standing his ground shows he is a hater. He smokes in the dugout too,at least used to not caring that kids could see that. Shameful ,despicable little man.Guess what it’s the NL DH’s shouldn’t be used unless they adopt it as a rule. The pitcher batting is real baseball ,because it makes a manager have to really manage using strategy ,it makes it tougher. Especially on the number 8 hitter.
