    Chapman to Close

The decision is made, Aroldis Chapman will close. Once Chapman said he wanted to be the closer, it was pretty clear this is the way it would go.

WHAT THE HECK WERE YOU DOING ALL OFFSEASON?

    What happened to the plan?

Why did you spend $21 million on J. Broxton to pitch the 8th? You’re already spending big bucks on a setup guy, Marshall.

I’m becoming convinced that if you want a pitcher to develop as a starter, you should only send him to the bullpen as a middle reliever. That was the Johan Santana path. When Jonathan Papelbon and Neftali Feliz were forced into the closer role due to expedience, they did not successfully transition back to starting. If you want someone to start, don’t put him in the closer role.
