Ks and Hits

Both Roy Oswalt and Jordan Zimmermann are taking advantage of Joe West’s strike zone to blow away batters. Roy struck out nine through the first four innings, Zimmerman recorded six Ks through five innings. Neither pitcher walked a batter so far. Oswalt is showing the rust, however, as he allowed eight hits so far, two leading off the fifth. One of those was a home run, and he just missed giving up one to Denard Span. On ball in the field of play, the Nats are 7 for 10 against Roy. It’s an all or nothing night for Oswalt, while Zimmermann allowed just three hits, all singles. Washington leads Colorado 2-0, but the Nats are set up for a big inning in the bottom of the fifth.

Update: Adam LaRoche drives in two runs with a triple, helped by poor Colorado defense.
