The Wild Ubaldo

The Yankees draw five walks from Ubaldo Jimenez in 4 2/3 innings as New York goes on to a 4-2 win over the Orioles. That’s eight walks in 10 2/3 innings for Jimenez this season, reverting back to the lack of control that the Indians managed to fix last season. What’s worse is four of the walks came from batters at the bottom of the Yankees order, each of the six through nine hitters earning a free pass. The Orioles need to work on Jimenez to make sure this doesn’t get out of hand.

Meanwhile, Hiroki Kuroda was his typical in-control self, walking none in 6 1/3 innings. He did allow eight hits and two runs, however, but that was more than good enough for the win.

Let that be a lesson against signing a guy to a 4 yr deal who had 2 good months in 3 years, against weak opponents at that.

Jiminez had nothing, A 91 mph FB and poor breaking stuff, Maybe he gets better as the season progresses, but I would not bet on it

Brian Roberts was Ubaldo bane. Without having a hit, he ate up 19 pitches. That’s at least an inning’s worth of work wiped from Ubaldo’s workload.
