Blogs for Money
Andrew Sullivan is having a pledge drive. He had one six months ago that raised $80,000. Ever since that time I've toyed with the idea of having one of my own; that if I could raise tens of thousands of dollars, I could quit my job and blog all day. There's a few reasons I haven't done that:
- I like this site being free, because I have no one to answer to but myself.
- There's something to be said for having a job that pays for your health insurance.
- I don't know that I have that many readers who can afford to cough up the money needed to maintain my family and this site.
Michele at A Small Victory isn't happy about Andrew going to the well again, and in many ways I agree with her. On the other hand, if Andrew Sullivan can demonstrate that someone can make a lot of money blogging, I'm happy to see him try. I don't have all that Michele has to offer (wink), but there is a PayPal tip jar to the right (you have to scroll down) if you'd rather donate here.
