Not to defend Henry here, but Steinbrenner is being disingenuous in his comments:

"Unlike the Yankees, he chose not to go the extra distance for his fans in Boston,"

With the revenue disparaties, for Boston to have made the deal w/o addressing the AROD contract would of meant a payroll where the Red Sox would not be a profitable venture. Meanwhile, ESPN had an article where even with their assinine payroll the Yankees will turn a profit. So it's not like the Yankees are making this great sacrifice for the fans to bring in AROD.
