The Red Sox Win!

Sierra grounds out to Pokey Reese to give the Red Sox the AL Pennant! To quote Jack Buck, "I can't believe what I just saw!" I'll no longer be able to say I was at the last three World Series games at Fenway Park.

They're the first team to come back from a 3-0 deficit to win a seven game series. The did it against their arch rivals, in the ball park nicknamed after the greatest player they ever let go. It's a great night for the Red Sox fans, and I suspect there are going to be a lot of people late for work tomorrow morning.

I don't know what happened to the Yankees bats. They were on for the first three games, and switch off the rest of the way. They lost the process. They lost their timing. And the Red Sox took full advantage of that.

Schilling was a medical miracle. Lowe was a divine miracle. Damon was just divine. And David Ortiz provided the shoulders to carry them all. On to the World Series! We'll see who'll be visiting Fenway this weekend tomorrow night.

Just WOW.

I didn't think, that in my lifetime, I'd see the Red Sox slaughter the Yankees for a spot in the World Series.

And you know, I think these guys can win it all. They have the talent, but now they have the intangible -- the belief they can do anything they need to.

Side thought -- wouldn't it be fun to watch Clemens pitch in Fenway this weekend? MMmm hhmm!

It is commonly known that you need a blood offering or sacrifice to get rid of a curse. I hope the Sox keep possession of Schilling's game 6 socks.

So, a lot of people are talking as if the curse has already been lifted. But don't they have to win the World Series to completely lift the curse? I'd say that coming back from the dead to destroy the Yankees is the first step to lifting it... but to complete it they have to go through St. Louis or Houston.

You all realize that if the 'Stros win tomorrow, that means Clemens pitches game three, and then, if necessary, game seven.

Nah, shouldn't be too dramtic a Series.

They lifted the monkey, but not the curse.

I was living in Nashua, NH during the '86 season. I remember the atmosphere after the comeback in the ALCS and the utter devastation after Mookie's ground ball. I would love to be up there tonight and this weekend. GO NUTS NEW ENGLAND, YOU DESERVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, Clemens won't actually pitch this weekend, but you know what I mean.

No more 3-0 series lead invincibility...

From me and all my co-workers in San Diego, congratulations to the Red Sox and all of their fans, the world cheers you onward

This is how I see it playing out. Game seven, Houston in Fenway. Clemens pitches 8 shutout innings. Top 9, 2 outs, Beltran singles, steals second. Bagwell then singles him home. Clemens pitches the 9th for the Houston win.

That's two former Red Sox (Clemens, kind of Bagwell) and one future Yankee (Beltran) doom the Sox. Beltran is a Yankee hero before he even wears pinstripes for the first time.

There is joy in Mudville/Beantown.

Lowe was brilliant.

(Why was he lifted, anyway? I know, we won, but second-guessing the manager is a habit that won't die easily...)

Damon broke his slump, big time.

Manny didn't, but it didn't matter.

Die hard M's fan extending a salute to the Sox's for an incredible feat. What curse? lol. This just goes to prove that all things are possible when you believe. After a dismal season with my M's, it was a thrill to be excited to see baseball MAJIC in the post season.

PS. I've never rooted for another team so heartily. Gotta love this game!!!! Goooooooo SOX.

Schilling's bloody sock ... to the Hall of Fame?

I think Ryan's World Series analysis is probably right. I'm a fan of the other Sox, but I think the Red Sox are going to find a way to let us down somehow or another in the series.

And even if they don't, I suspect Steinbrenner, for his own selfish reasons, will find some ways to steal the headlines over the next week or two.

Incredible game, and just a crushing choke job by the Yankees. I kept waiting for Fox to show Steinbrenner doing a slow burn, but it never happened. They did show Cashman a couple of times, the last time, he had the look of a man feeling his neck for the noose.

Congrats to the Sox and their long-suffering fans. Now, if my Astros win their own game 7 tonight, they'll extend your curse. :) If it's the Cards, I'll be rooting for you.

Over on hotstove.blogspot.com, he points out that the Yankees have choked in the postseason each of the last 4 years. Is the myth of Yankee invulnerability over?

stros vs roger in fenway!!!!!!!!!

it's his Destiny...

the "best" team money can buy wasn't. again. maybe it's time to start talking about the curse of arod.

one more thing - we heard approximately 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000+ times how no team had ever come back to win when down 3-0. maybe now Some People will see that probable and possible ain't necessarily the same thing.

Roger vs. Pedro, in Minute Maid (or is it called the Juice?) Will either of them go high and in on the other?
