Easy Three

Another 1-2-3 inning for Lowe. He's now thrown 29 pitches, vs. 72 for Marquis. The Red Sox offense is just wearing down the starters, while the Cardinals are giving Lowe a break.

Update: The fourth inning is the same. Three up, three down, 9 pitches.

Joe Buck and Tim McCarver are praising the fine work of Red Sox manager Terry Francona. If Theo Epstein runs his operation anything like Billy Beane runs the A's then the announcers don't know what they're talking about.

Dave, from reading Moneyball I know Beane didn't want the manager to do much during the game. Does Epstein take a similar approach. And what shold a manager do using the sabermetric approach?
