Baseball Musings Pledge Drive

As of today I am a free agent. Baseball Info Solutions needs to direct its resources toward the home office, so I'm in the job market. BIS was a great experience; I learned new skills and made some new friends. I wish the company success in the coming years. If anyone is looking for a person with general programming skills, or if anyone in the baseball community is looking for a sabermetrician, I am now available.

Free agency is an opportunity, also. Writing this web log is a terrific full time job. I believe in time this site can become self-sustaining, generating enough income to support my family. It will take time to get there, however. You can help.

You can kick start the growth of this blog with a donation. If every individual who visits this site in March gives $1, Baseball Musings can be written full time for a year. If everyone donated $10, the money rasised would sustain this site indefinitely.

So consider donating $10 to this site. If you're a long time reader, if you found something useful through a Google search, even if you just like to come here and complain in the comments, please be part of this site with a contribution. Any amount is fine.

And, in best NPR fashion, there are premiums. For a donation of $50, you will be get to dedicate a post. The dedication should be in good taste and may contain a hyperlink. For a contribution of $500, you will be listed as a Patron on the side bar for two years, including a hyperlink.

Donations can be made via Amazon or PayPal. Just click one of the symbols below.

Thanks to everyone who helped make this site a success by reading, commenting on and recommending the posts here. With your monetary support, Baseball Musings can continue to bring you a fresh perspective on the game and explore new ways of presenting information about the national pastime. Help sign me to a long term contract by making a generous donation today.

David -

Sorry to hear about your position. I think your donation experiment could have huge ramifications for the baseball blogosphere (clearly for you, too).

Can a baseball blog run on the PBS-model? We'll see. I blogged your fund drive at my site, and I'll be donating soon.

Good luck!

David,

I have read your blog daily from inception. I love your insight and your links have introduced me to many new ideas. You have also responded quickly to the few emails I have sent you asking questions. Thanks.

I can't get myself to pay ESPN premium $'s in order to still read Neyer everyday, but it was a no-brainer to send you $10.

Good luck and thanks for writing!

David

Sorry to hear about your recent job loss. I have always enjoyed your site as well as your insights. As a native Southerner and die-hard Atlanta Braves fan, it's great to get your perspectives and article links on other teams.

Good luck in your job search and keep up the great work on your blog. Best $10 I ever spent.

Regards
Chris

Hey David, I sent in 20. I think of your site like a magazine subscription. I pay for those, why not here.

Good Luck in this venture and my only content suggestion would be more thoughts on teams outside the AL East, like for my Astros!

I read your site to get my fix in the off season and to learn more about how this game works statistically. Thanks for helping me to understand. Worth every penny. Best of luck with whatever this brings.

The Amazon Payment doesn't appear to be working properly.

Hi Paul,

Sorry to hear about the job. I just contributed and will continue to do so as long as it can help keep you and the site going. I love reading the Blog and the upcoming season would be in so many ways duller without it.

Thanks!

David, I've tried a number of times to contribute through
PayPal and Amazon, and couldn't get either one to work.
Do you have a snail mail address? I've run out of
patience with those pay services. Maybe others have
had a similar experience.

Do you have an address where readers can just send in checks for those who prefer that method?

First time reader but I'm with you. Is there another way to send $10 i haven't used my paypal account in years

Posted by: Joey Lee at February 21, 2006 12:51 AM

$10 is about 0.1% of what I've been able to earn since you inspired me to start my blog three and a half years ago, not to mention the enjoyment and exposure I've gotten from being part of the blogger community. It's the least I can do.

Good luck finding a new job, or barring that, making this gig pay the bills.

Ten bucks is the least I can do for my BlogFather.
