Penned Up Offense

The Royals sweep the Yankees, earning a 5-2 victory tonight. What a great start for Buddy Bell! So far, he's used the bullpen effectively. The pen pitched 11 innings against New York in this series and allowed only 1 earned run, a 0.82 ERA.

I wonder when the screaming starts in Tampa and the Bronx. I can suffer through the Sox' struggles as long as the Yanks are worse. Damn, we won the World Series and STILL I'm not over them. Oh well.

The Royals beat them in every part of the game. Check out these numbers:

Royals: .295/.324/.474
Yankees: .196/.297/.320

The Royals had gone 78 series without sweeping an opponent.
