Ouch-io!

Craig Biggio broke the modern hit by pitch record when he was plunked today. The Astros won the game 7-1 as Oswalt when seven shutout innings for the victory. He's now 2-0 in his career at Coors.

I thought this was appropriate:

Biggio was hit on the padding guarding his right elbow during the fourth inning of Houston's game against the Rockies, marking the 268th time he's been plunked, the post-1900 record.

The only padding I remember Baylor using were his giant muscles.

"padding guarding his right elbow"

Bidge is a right-handed hitter.

So either the writer screwed up or else Bidge has taken to wearing a pad on /both/ elbows.

And Baylor never charged the mound, or rubbed the boo-boo. He just took his base.

That's right, back in my day, players walked barefoot to the park every day! And carved their bats out of trees they ripped from the ground with their bare hands!

These young whippersnappers don't know the meaning of HBP!
