New York Shutouts

The Yankees and Mets found themselves at opposite ends of shutouts today. Dontrelle Willis went the distance to shutdown the Mets 3-0. The Mets loaded the bases with one out in the first on two hits and a walk, but failed to score. The Mets would get just one hit the rest of the game as Dontrelle picks up his fourth shutout of the season and lowers his ERA to 1.89.

Meanwhile, the Yankees finally win a game in which they score 3 runs or less. Wang, Gordon and Rivera combine to beat the Tigers 1-0. The Yankees pitchers only struck out three, but they only allowed 6 hits. The Tigers waste a terrific performance by Nate Robertson who spread out nine hits as he went the distance in the loss.
