Saturday's Starters

My old office mate from UMass, Margie Connell, retired today so I just got back from Amherst and her going away party. On the way back, I was listening to the Yankees game. It seems New York does not have a starting pitcher for Saturday. Torre may actually make a Tony La Russa move, and use a series of relievers for a few innings each.

I think that would be a better solution than using Nomo, who they acquired yesterday. Also, the bullpen should be rested, as Small pitched 7 innings today and Mussina is going tomorrow.

I don't know, have you seen the Yanks' bullpen lately? Not much there besides Gordon and Rivera.

Well, why'd they acquire Nomo then, unless Steinbrenner thinks that putting him in pinstripes will magically cause him to return to his peak form?

200 million just doesn't stretch as far as it used to.
