Park Outpitches Pedro
Just to show that anything can happen in baseball, Chan Ho Park defeated Pedro Martinez in San Diego last night.
Park, who entered with a 5.84 earned run average, nearly as bloated as his $70 million contract, struck out eight batters and allowed only two runs in five and two-thirds innings. He left with two runners on base and a three-run lead, but San Diego reliever Scott Linebrink struck out Wright. The Padres' bullpen, perhaps the best in baseball, preserved Park's first victory since he was traded from Texas on July 29.
Chan Ho even managed a hit off Pedro. The recently streaky Padres won their fifth in a row and are once again taking command of the NL West race.

Other mismatches the Padres have won this year include Pedro Astacio over Livan Hernandez, and Darrell May over Johan Santana.
Pedro had nothing last night. Park also looked much better than advertised. Fastball 89-94, with movement. Guess he didn't get the memo that his stuff his gone.
