Mueller Time

Bill Mueller signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers today, showing once again that money isn't always as important as location:

Mueller, 34, chose the Dodgers over what was believed to be a more lucrative offer from the Pittsburgh Pirates, and had considered a contract offer from the Chicago White Sox, but was not assured a starting position there.

Barring injury, he'll be an offensive improvement at third for the Dodgers.

It has been an honor and blessing to watch Bill Mueller play everyday the last few years. He is a true professional baseball player and was my favorite over the last few seasons with the Red Sox.

I hope he does great for L.A.

Bill Mueller is such a treat to watch as a baseball fan...I'll miss seeing him play as much. Thanks Bill!

I hope the Dodgers come to Fenway next year... I'd love to go to the game and be a part of a hopefully pretty receptive crowd to him.

The real interesting thing would be if Nomar signed with LA as well, and got a much different reaction.

Looks like the Sox don't play the Dodgers, but they do play the mets.

I guarantee the tickets for the day Pedro pitches will be the hottest thing in town. Can't wait to see one more gem from him...

That's great! Jose Valentin and Norihiro Nakamura were somewhat less than inspiring at third base last year. Our infield looks much improved, but there are still some big holes to fill in the lineup.

still need a lst baseman, outfield, and starters

I second what Derek says.

It was a pleasure watching someone like Mueller give it his all day in and day out. If Manny played the game like Billy, Manny would be considered in the Ruth and Williams category. Instead he is just a very good player in today's superstar world.

Like I did last season when Dave Roberts and San Diego came to town, I will go to a Phillies-Dodgers game to pay my respects.

Bill Mueller was a joy to watch.

Good luck Billy Ballgame.

It's official. The Red Sox team that won the 2004 World Series no longer exists.

i have to admit the dodgers are making moves. still to make some more. they were red hot last year to start the season. then flopped when like 70% of their team went on the dl. does gange bounce back is the bigger question

re: LA v. Pittsburgh

Some of us, respectfully, think that the Northeast, with its orchestras, museums, four seasons, hockey teams, available ski areas and nice summer seasons close to the Atlantic ocean (not to mention two hours flight to Florida if you don't like winter) and manageable real estate prices, make it a much better place to live than the awful, terrible Los Angeles, which is (1) the worst air pollution place in the US (120 days of smog a year) (2) 50% or more immigrants many illegal (3) terrible crime and illegal looting and rioting problems which erupt every few years (OJ, other occasions) and threaten to spill over into allegedly safe white neighborhoods (4) earthquakes, mudslides and fires (5) exorbitant real estate prices (6) women and men who have no education, no culture and can't spell their names even though they have the latest haute coiture etc etc etc.

LA basically is not as good a town as Pittsburgh PA.

A ballplayer can find a much nicer girl to marry in Pittsburgh than he can in LA, and a much nicer place to live in as well, and put away a lot more in the IRA and pension plan for a rainy day and retirement.

LA sucks, as everyone knows.
