Sheets Pitches Better, Still Loses
Ben Sheets improved on his first start by striking out 10, walking none and allowing just two runs through seven innings. But Bronson Arroyo goes eight and is touched for just one run as he earns his third victory against no defeats. He struck out 8 and walked just two, and David Weather added two K in his inning of relief for the save. A very good night for the Reds staff as the team wins 3-1.

In other semi-OT news, it seems like we can lay to rest any worries that Alfonso Soriano might not be able to hit home runs in RFK Stadium. He destroyed the Braves tonight with 3 HR, two against John Smoltz and the final one (to break the game open in the bottom of the 8th) clobbered to centerfield.
Sheets had some wicked stuff last night, the Reds 3rd run came on Brandon Philips going second to home on a 5-3 GO, Fielder stretched down to get the throw and Phillips never broke stride.
If Phillips never pans out beyond this month chances are he'll still be loved by Reds fans for help push Womack down to the ballast side of the bench.
