Belle of the Anibal
An impressive debut for Anibal Sanchez. Called up from double-A, starting in Yankees Stadium, trying to prevent his team from being swept, he pitches 5 2/3 shutout innings against the Bronx Bombers. He gives up seven hits, but does not issue a walk and strikes out two. He threw a lot of pitches, 96, but also a lot of strikes, 63. Just another reason to believe the Marlins are going to be a team to reckon with in a couple of years, or even sooner.

Impressive pitching.
What keeps annoying me is the announcer who keeps trying to convince us that Miguel Cabrera is the only Marlin left from Florida's 2003 championship team and that the Marlins are building around him. He's said this at least 2 times. How come he hasn't heard of Dontrelle Willis? And they have him in the booth?
What annoys me is this thing the Yankees have with pithchers they see for the first time. John Sterling was talking about it on the radio: Baker from the Twins, Pauley from the Red Sox, and Sanchez today. I remember it happening a few more times as well. Does this happen to other teams as often as it does with the Yankees? And if not, what could explain it?
check the archives of SoSH to read red sox fans making the same sorts of complaints, especially about last year's team. i've heard people argue that we just expect to beat up on rookies, so we really remember the times when they pitch well.
I think the "does poorly against strange pitchers" thought is hogwash or else over the years the Yankees would most likely have a poor record in interleague games and their record is very good in those games.
