Slammin' the Cubs

Cliff Floyd and Carlos Beltran each hit a grand slam in the top of the sixth inning as the Mets score nine runs to change a 5-2 deficit into an 11-5 lead. They're not done yet as they have a man on second with two out. (As I wrote this, David Wright his a two run homer to make the score 13-5).

Despite the home runs, this inning is a good example of what's wrong with the Cubs. Watching the defense, it strikes me they're playing poor fundamental baseball. Todd Walker made two errors, but the fielder in general look like they don't have their heads in the game. The fans are now throwing garbage on the field. This was a garbage inning by the Cubs. This inning my very well have sealed Dusty Baker's fate. It just looks like the Cubs are unprepared.

does this pounding say more about the mets' dominance (and legitimacy) or the cubs' impotency?

it was really great to see cliff floyd come through big- he bought a whole bunch of tickets for his friends and family (he is from chicago).
