Giants Edge Closer

The Giants gained on both the Dodgers and Padres this afternoon as San Francisco takes a 5-4 victory in extra innings. Ray Durham tripled with one out in the eleventh, then Bochy intentionally loaded the bases. The Padres got the ground ball, but failed to get an out as Durham scored and won the game. Barry Bonds hit home run 731 in the first, and is two away from tying Aaron's NL record of 733.

Jason Schmidt struck out then, but probably stayed in the game a little two long as he gave up homers in the seventh and eighth to allow San Diego to tie the game. The Giants are now three games behind the Dodgers and 1 1/2 behind the Padres.
