Hernandez Out for the NLDs

It's official, Orlando Hernandez has a torn calf muscle. John Maine gets the nod for game one, and Oliver Perez makes the roster. The rotation for round one is Maine, Glavine, Trachsel and TBA. I bet the Dodgers hope Perez starts game four.

The Mets should just be happy if there IS a Game 4.

re: mets dodgers

i've given this some thought, and except for the dodgers pitching Greg Maddux in game three, it seems to me the Mets could pitch Who's at First, What's at Second and Where's at Third in three games and still win in three games over the hapless dodgers, who barely won enough games to climb over the phils into the playoffs.

John Maine is a pretty good starter and in Shea will be more effective. Tommy Glavine has been there a 1000 times before with the Braves and is there to shut the door in game two.

If the mets win game one, look for Glavine to win game two and the mets to clinch on the road in LA.

The dodgers do have some edge with the experienced Maddux, but remember that Maddux often pitches horribly in playoff games. The Phils roughed him up in 1993 and he does not have a good record in the post-season.
