Hammerin' Jeter

Derek Jeter wins the Hank Aaron award for the American League. While Jeter was the MVP, David Ortiz did put up better offensive numbers. It's not a bad call, Jeter was very close. But if it's the award for best offensive player, the David should have the crown.

I don't think it was close at all. This is almost a bad joke and certainly demeans the Hank Aaron award. A more relevant stat than total offensive win shares is the WSP and Jeter's is not in the same range as the sluggers. Hafner in particular had an outstanding year. Jeter gets a lot of WS credit for the 715 PA from his top of the lineup position and team. Jeter was 5th in RCAA, 8th in EQA, and 8th in WSP.

Jeter is good and all, but please.....the award is Hafner's, and possibly Ortiz's

since bobby abreu won a gold glove, every award in baseball has meant less to me. if ryan howard doesn't get the mvp i will stop recognizing them all together.

Seeing that Andruw Jones won it for the NL last year, I'll just ignore this from now on, like I apparently had been before since I didn't know the previous winners. It's just silly.
