Actual Interest
Wow. A team is actually interested enough in Jeff Weaver to leak that notion to the press.
That's the problem with tossing rumors around willy-nilly; important bits get lost in the translation. In this case, the Mets are interested in Dennis Weaver. Omar Minaya is a huge fan of McCloud.
the mets aren't seriously considering bring weaver into citizens bank park a couple times a year are they?
Maybe they're hoping this will buy them some leverage when Jered becomes a free agent.

And if you have time or interest look at the comments at the forum attached to the piece. Hilarious, I don't think I have ever seen such agreement among Mets fans.
That said, anything more than a one year offer to this weaver would be absurd. Flopped in NYC, and was released last year. This is not the type of talent you stretch for, in any market.
