How Old is Pedro's Son?

Correction: I misread the article. This is not Pedro's son. This is an outfielder, Fernando Martinez, not a pitcher. Sorry for the mistake. The original post follows.

There seems to be a bit of controversy over the age of Pedro Martinez's son. He's been 18 in all reports I've seen, but:

Today, however, MLB.com's minor-league website, MiLB.com, lists Martinez as being born on December 10, 1986, which means the young outfielder is actually 20 years old.

There's plenty of doubts about the accuracy of this in the comments at MetsBlog.com. Of course, that means Pedro was a pretty young father.

Dominicans lying about their age?! Shocking! A few weeks ago I read that Pedro's son was 19 at that time. Well, it looks as if Pedro was quite the precocious one with the ladies. Anyway, have the ages of David Ortiz or Miguel Tejada ever been questioned and verified? I remember back to when Alfonso Soriano suddenly was 2 years older. Just one more thing the Yankees weren't too pleased about with Sori ... MetsBlog looks like a nice site -- very fast, good links ...

He is not Pedro's son. Pedro's son is a pitcher in the Mets system.

Isn't Pedro's son's name Pedro?

Tejada I don't know.

But Ortiz is actually 11 months younger than he was originally reported to be, and is not named David Arias, the name he signed under with Seattle.
