Figgins Fingers
Chone Figgins injured his hand:
X-rays taken Friday by hand specialist Dr. Steve Shin at the Kerlan-Jobe Clinic revealed Figgins has fractures of the index and middle fingers on his right hand. He was injured in the fifth inning of Wednesday's game against Arizona in Tempe, Ariz., when a grounder hit by Conor Jackson bounced off his hand. Figgins was charged with an error on the play and came out of the game after the inning.
He's likely out until May. Izturis gets the nod to take over the position.

Well, we've been saying for a year that all Izturis needed was a chance to take over. Maicer has been unspectacular but adequate this spring, but then again he thought he was playing for a bench position that he'd pretty much locked up anyway.
This is not a big injury and Chone will not miss much time, but in this small window, if Maicer can turn it up a notch, maybe he can shove Chone back to the outfield, where his speed is a lot more useful than it is at third, anyway.
