THE Rod
So I wonder what negative thing the New York papers are going to say about Alex Rodriguez hitting a two-out, two-strike, walk off grand slam? All he did today was drive in six of the Yankees runs with two homers, a double and a walk, and he also scored four. I'm guessing the headline tomorrow in at least one paper will be "Mr. April."
Of course, if Jeter doesn't draw that clutch walk with a man on first, A-Rod never gets the chance to hit the homer.

Haha, funny post. The Post/Daily News are so hard on A-Rod. Maybe if he tears it up this month they can finally shut up even when he goes 0 for. You can't ask for a better opening week from him, hitting 3HR in the first 4 games. Their starting pitching is horrible, that is what will lose them games. Their pitching tried its hardest to lose them the game today, but A-Rod with 6RBI brought it back. I don't root for the Yanks but I root for A-Rod because of all the crap the NY media gives him.
And the Orioles bullpen additions pay immediate dividends...Danys Baez deserves even more crap for this than Ray does.
A-rod and Abreu smoked line drives off Ray in the 9th Friday night. Both were caught.
What makes A-rod an enigma is how he could look so absolutely clueless one day (his 7th inning AB on Friday night, a 3-pitch K) and then show up the next day and be the biggest stud on the field.
ARod is a "guess" hitter, a lot of his teammates have said that about him before.
That's why he often looks badly fooled at the plate or outstanding, without much in-between.
When he is feeling confident and playing well, he probably has a better approach at the plate, too.
I think that this entire experience he's had in NY has made him stronger. If he truly was "soft" before he came to NY, I think that inevitably his skin has thickened some, which will no doubt enhance his performance throughout the year and the rest of his career.
He'll leave NY knowing that he can play anywhere and take anyone's criticism, because he's seen the worst of it.
