One Buck Short

The difference in the Royals/Athletics game last came down to Travis Buck vs. John Buck. Travis led off the game for Oakland with a triple. Neither Chavez nor Swisher was able to score him from third with grounders, and Bradley struck out to end the inning.

In the top of the ninth, John Buck added the extra base, homering to break a scoreless tie and put the Royals up 2-0. Oakland did add a run in the bottom of the inning, but Travis Buck struck out to end the game.

Meche pitched seven scoreless innings to lower his ERA to 1.91, while Haren pitched eight to bring his to 1.64. Haren passes Wakefield for the AL ERA lead and Meche sits third.
