Talking to the World
The BBC World Service interview with Dan McLaughlin and myself can be heard here. They left a lot out for time purposes. I mentioned that at the end of the 1998 season, Bonds had about a 4% chance of breaking Aaron's record by the favorite toy, a little better than winning betting on a single number at roulette. And the point about Ruth I didn't get to finish was that the Babe went on a fitness regimen when he was in his early 30s and put up fantastic home run numbers when most players would be declining.
Correction: I was using the wrong formula to calculate the chance of Bonds breaking Aaron's home run record after the 1998 season. The correct gave Bonds a 0 probability of breaking the record at that point. Sorry for the error.

You know Dan McLaughlin? I despise him royally. I have to listen to classical music when I watch Fox Sports Midwest. Whenever I do listen, I end up writing into the booth because he says something so incredibly stupid that it offends me. Can you explain his personal vendetta against Juan Encarnacion? They will not respond to my inquiries.
Sherwood,
I believe you are thinking of a different McLaughlin. The one with FOX does Cardinal's games. Pinto was debating Dan McLaughlin of BaseballCrank.com. He is not an announcer, he's a barrister and a Mets fan.
I am not now nor have I ever been a broadcaster for the Cardinals.
Hmm, not sold Crank, that response depends on your definition of the word "broadcaster." How do you feel about Juan Encarnacion? Please list all personal vendettas below.
Hi David,
just wanted to let you know that this interview is not working on iTunes.
Thanks for clearing that up and sorry for the confusion. I did not realize how common that name was within the baseball community.
If you had to listen his daily diarhea of the mouth describing baseball, you would all understand my concern. Just last night he regurgitated the New York media created myth of the October choking A-Rod which firejoemorgan.com has been lambasting for months and I almost blew an O-ring. The man is a living cliche xerox machine.
