The Fighting Astros

Everyone on the Astros played well tonight as they crushed the Rangers 7-2. Each starter picked up at least one hit, including the pitcher Wandy Rodriguez. Wandy also pitched a great game, allowing one run over eight innings. He walked none and struck out nine. Wandy is showing better control this season. In 2007 he walked a batter about every three innings. In 2008, the a walk comes about every four innings.

Hamilton left the game after getting hit on the hand by a pitch, but x-rays were negative.

The NL thanks the Astros for providing their only win of the day and salvaging their - can you call it -pride?

The AL has almost clinched another win in interleague play. They're clobbering the NL at a .596 winning percentage. No doubt, the DH has been the ruination of that league.

Yes, I know the DH is irrelevant to the relative strength of the leagues. But if the NL were romping and stomping, the hidebound traditionalists in the media would be chortling over how the DH...has been the ruination of the AL.
