Bonds Rumor Alive?

Despite denials by Barry Bonds's agent, MLBnewsonline.com is standing by their story that the Yankees are working on a deal for Barry Bonds:

MLBnewsonline.com publishes news and other confirmed facts, but also is a conduit for ephemeral rumors which may or may not pass the traditional authentication test that might be imposed by mainstream media. At this time, the Bronx Bomber's source has not backed away from his assertion, and until such time as that occurs we have no reason to retract it, even though it has created a good deal of healthy skepticism.

So we'll wait and see.

re: Barry Bonds

actually, I understand that Barry has met with Barrack Obama and has decided to change his name to Barrack Bonds. Also, the new Barrack Bonds is for Obama and is generally for change.

A change would be good for the Yankees as well, as they got stuck with Bobby Abreu a couple of years back and his enormous salary and fear of running into walls.

Can't say we didn't warn ya', that was a smart salary dump by Pat Gillick and the Phils are still leading the NL in runs scored. More economical right fielders like Jayson Werth and Shane Victorino are better in the field and walk plenty and provide lots of the punch that Abreu did; in fact, Werth "grandson of Dick Schofield" has more homers and just about as many walks as Abreu. And he isn't getting 13 million dollars.

Barry Barrack Bonds would be an enormous improvement even at dh over a lot of what the yanks are putting out there. In a platoon with Richie Sexson, he'd be great.

Well, it'd be a better way to spend MLB minimum than on a guy even the Mariners don't want any more. Plus with the media in "nuke A-Rod" mode again, it might actually be a plus for the Yankees if Bonds siphons away some attention.

I'd be willing to bet that Bonds would handily outperform Sexson against lefties--the only reason for a platoon would be to rest Bonds.
