The L's Have It

Brad Lidge and Cliff Lee win Comeback Player of the Year in the NL and AL respectively. Two excellent choices, although Mike Mussina should be up there as well.

Something tells me this won't be the only award for Lee.

Come back for Lidge? he really didn't have all that bad of a year last year (except he blew a few saves).
i thought this was more for players that were hurt the previous year or something...

That's what I was going to say, what exactly is Lidge coming back from?

The correct answer is Ryan Dempster.

I think with Lidge it's more of a two-year comeback award, from his really bad year in 2006. And the save percentage did improve a bit (ha-ha) from 2007. Like it or not, that percentage is what closers get judged on.

Is this given out by MLB, like the Roberto Clemente Award or something? I assume it's not the Baseball Writers. And who votes?
