More Gloves, More Gold

The American Gold Glove awards winners are out. Why do the voters insist on giving the award to old pitchers?

Correction: I meant voters, not reporters.

Well, it says the voting is done by managers and coaches in the AL, not reporters. But, my initial thought to your question is probably still correct, "it's easier to write down a name that's won it before, than actually research to determine the best winner".

No way Hunter still deserves it. Carlos Gomez would be a good choice.

Why do the reporters insist on giving the award to good hitters, not good fielders? (Michael Young, in the grand tradition of Derek Jeter!)

lol @ insta-bias. the reporters had nothing to do with this.

I don't think there's any question that Mike Mussina and Greg Maddux are among the best fielding pitchers in the game, even at 42 and 39.

When they are *the* best in their leagues is another question, but they aren't horrible picks.

Michael Young? I guess you have to pick somebody but how does he come into the conversation - how about Jason Bartlett? And no BJ Upton?
