Another Arm for the Pen

The Mets acquire Connor Robertson from the Diamondbacks for Scott Schoeneweis. I don't understand this move from the Diamondbacks perspective. Robertson is nine years younger and struck out a high number of batters in the minor leagues. They must see something they don't like about him. Maybe he has a tendency toward fly balls, which would hurt him in Arizona? I'm curious what Arizona fans think of this deal.

How many righthanded relievers do the Mets need?

It's a good move from a Mets fans perspective and long over due. Here's what's left for Omar Minaya to do. Get rid of Sanchez and Feliciano for lefty relievers and for a little younger and that will completely clean out that horrible bullpen, with the exception of Stokes, Parnell and possibly Niese if he's not starting, those guys are solid. Not to forget what every one else seems to in when the Mets got Putz they also got Green, who like Heilman may need a change a scenery. Next Starting pitching, If the Mets don't go after Lowe and can not land Marquis the next guy in line and I'm still not sure why no one wants this guy is Garland. In my opinion, a better upgrade than Marquis and probably less expensive and if successful will stick around a lot longer than Lowe. This guy helped the White Sox win it all some years ago and did pretty well with the Angels. No I don't believe Perez should come back to the Mets. Don't get me wrong he's a great big game pitcher, but so unreliable at times and the Mets need some one more reliable and that doesn't have a ridiculous agent, who i believe is why players that he represents ask for so much, so he could get most of it. Next move is to rid the Mets and their faithful fans of Luis Castillo, had this guy came to the Mets 5 or 6 seasons ago, no problem but you shouldn't have to subject yourself to playing in New York on the decline of your Career. Another than the 86 team and Edgardo Alfonso the Mets never really had a great Second Baseman (no Reyes doesn't count because he is naturally a Short Stop). You need some one at that position like Jose Valentine who was mechanically sound, older than reyes, but didn't look like he was in pain every time he went for the ball. Finally Outfield. I'm a big fan of the Outfield and I believe that the combination of Church in right field and Beltran in Center is great. However I feel that instead of Platooning Tatis, Murphy, and Hopefully Pagan until Martinez is ready (if he is still in the system) you go get some one through trade like a Matt Holiday, who is still I believe gettable. He's also a great hitter and would definitely give the Mets the edge over not just the N.L. East but the N.L. all together. You still need Murphy in the lineup and considering he did come up as an infielder let him play second until Delgado leaves at the end of next season and put him at First base which is what he was being groomed for any way. This what Omar should at least consider to take it all in 2009 and beyond.

Dbacks must not have thought too much of the guy to trade him for a 35 yr old guy with a career ERA of 5.
